reservations
Booking a shipment
produces information needed for flight planning, aircraft scheduling and
management reporting. Booking demands rigorous validation because so many
subsequent processes depend on the accuracy of this information.
Booking
A booking reserves space for a shipment using an air waybill
number or temporary reservation number on behalf of a specific customer.
You can assign air waybills to flights or locations by (1) using CHAMP's
air waybill entry functions, (2) updating the goods movement record, (3)
splitting a shipment, (4) creating a partial delivery or (5) assigning them
from a connecting flight.
Booking functions allow you to:
- Process shipments
that are not previously booked or accepted to a location.
- Update a
booking, correct errors or cancel a shipment.
- Book from
a standardized message
- Book from
the Internet
Space
management
Using the information from the booking process, the space
management functions allow you to optimize capacity by weight, volume and
position. It is one of CHAMP's most powerful tools. You can see which freight
was sold and flown as booked and which offices and customers are using or
abusing capacity commitments. You can display the air waybill information
for shipments by flight or location and see the allocation levels and status
of your entire network.

Flight
planning
Every operating flight is registered in the system so that
it can accept bookings and be part of a scheduled or chartered operation.
Flight numbers are used to control bookings and air waybill competition.
Every air waybill is linked to a flight number and receives a financial transaction
type and accounting period.
The flight
schedules for both charter and schedule operations can be maintained manually
or downloaded from a passenger reservation system. Standard schedules can
be loaded from external electronic sources or standard messages.
Allocations
You can manage capacity at the master flight levels according
to weight, volume and aircraft position. You can also map capacity at the
operating level for individual customers, product lines and sales offices.
