CHAMP modules use air waybill information to: (1) account for charges, interline amounts, provisioning expenses, revenue and yield and (2) conduction operational activities such as shipment and rating. Operational details are discussed in the section on airline operations.

In addition to the data available on the air waybill, CHAMP modules use information that is stored internally about customers, aircraft, accounts, rates, terminals, containers and geographic regions. Using these data together enables CHAMP to automate the accounting processes for international and domestic air cargo.

As air waybills are entered to the system, the Cargo Revenue Accounting module audits them in order to maintain accurate financial records. It examines each one to be sure it is complete and correct. It rates the air waybill, prorates the revenue among partners, if there is an agreement, and provisions the operating costs for each transaction. It converts the amounts to the host currency and reports them. It also sends the air waybill data to other modules for additional processing and will track all subsequent changes or adjustments to the shipment's record.

Cargo Revenue Accounting can exchange data with other CHAMP modules, with external financial systems and with most supply chain management systems.
